STUDIO SETTINGS consists of images taken in commercial photo portraitists‘ studios. The focus lies on the backdrops and props, which function as backgrounds for the person beeing photographed: as a setting, detached from the object.

Bearing the current digital evolution and its influence on the formation of identities, these images pose the perpetual question of ‘how we want to be seen‘ and how the genre of portrait studio photography, made for the album (private), differs from the selfie as a networking tool towards the outside world (public).

Each image from the series becomes a setting again: interchangeable, the backdrop turns into a stage and opens up a space in itself, no matter where it is displayed.
